How we correct. Corrections are appended to the bottom of the affected article, dated and timestamped, and republished on this page. The original text is not altered except where the error itself is the text, in which case the change is marked. We do not correct quietly.

What we correct. Errors of fact within the world of the story; arithmetic; misattributed quotations; misspelled names, both real and invented; incorrect dollar figures; and incorrect datelines.

What we do not correct. Opinions, predictions, and the general shape of the economy.

Recent Corrections

Correction · Appended March 4

An earlier version of "Congratulations! Your Spouse Or Minor Child May Be Eligible For An Additional One-Time Death Benefit Of $255" stated that the Social Security lump-sum death payment had been raised in 1974. It has not been raised since 1954. MoneyHole regrets the implication of progress.

Correction · Appended February 19

"MoneyHole Mutant: This Guy Spent 35 Minutes Debating What Tequila to Buy at Costco and We Are So Here For It" originally reported the deliberation at 34 minutes. Review of the subject's own timestamped notes established 35 minutes, 40 seconds. The figure has been corrected upward. We apologize to Mr. Reyes for underselling his process.

A chart accompanying "Incredible: This Shiny Rock We Dug Out Of The Ground Continues To Outperform Wages, Housing, And The Entire Digital Economy" plotted wages on a logarithmic axis and the rock on a linear one, making the gap appear smaller than it is. The chart has been rebuilt. The gap is worse.

Due to a production error, "The Median Private Equity Firm Is Now 38 Months Old Before Buying Its First Home" carried a Lincoln dateline. The firm bought the house in Omaha. The dateline has been corrected.
